Thule AB participates in Worldwide Troop Talk
THULE AIR BASE, Greenland -- Col. Stuart Pettis (right), 821st Air Base Group commander, and Senior Airman Taali Ruffin, 821st Security Forces Squadron, prepare for the Worldwide Troop Talk Sept. 1 with Secretary of Defense Ash Carter. Ruffin asked Carter about anticipated enhancements in Thule's strategic mission capabilities. Carter answered by explaining Thule's strategic importance, and stressed the importance of keeping the radar modern and sensitive enough to detect and discriminate threats. The hour-long Troop Talk was the first time the secretary of defense answered Airmen’s questions live during a webcast. (U.S. Air Force photo)
