Atop a volcano
MAUI, Hawaii – One of the optical telescopes at Detachment 3, 21st Operations Group on the crater’s edge of Haleakala volcano on the island of Maui, Hawaii. Situated on its 10,023 foot summit the telescopes have little light pollution or atmospheric interference, allowing for a clearer view of deep space.
