Saluting veterans
PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. – Al Horne Jr. is a World War II veteran and volunteer at the Peterson Air and Space Museum. As a museum volunteer Horne shares stories including bartering for a barrel of frozen raspberries to mapping all of Greenland in a B-17 during his time in the Air Force. Horne is just one of the many veterans volunteering at the Peterson Air and Space Museum. With more than 20,000 retirees and thousands more veterans in the Colorado Springs community, Veterans Day at Peterson Air Force Base was a day to celebrate the thousands of veterans who have served and those who continue to serve. Veterans interested in volunteering at the Peterson Air and Space Museum should visit http://www.petemuseum.org. (U.S. Air Force photo/Michael Golembesky)
