RCAF celebrates birthday
PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. – Lt. Gen. Alain Parent, North American Aerospace Defense Command deputy commander, speaks to an audience of fellow Canadians and service members during a ceremony to celebrate the Royal Canadian Air Force’s 90th birthday April 1. The ceremony, held at the Peterson Air and Space Museum hangar, marked the day the Canadian Air Force was officially established and the prefix "Royal" was adopted. Canada is a part of NORAD, a bi-national military organization that monitors and defends North American airspace. The unique partnership formed more than 50 years ago continues to play a vital role in ensuring the mutual security of Canada and the United States. (U.S. Air Force photo/Michael Golembesky)
