Sexual assault awareness month
PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. – A Team Pete member reads one of the displays during the Peterson Sexual Assault Awareness Month Reflection Walk April 25 in Eagle Park. Each of the 192 flags represent an adult victim of sexual assault from the Peterson Air Force Base community over the past five years. The walk also included stories from sexual assault victims and a banner walkers could sign to show support for victims and speak out against sexual assault. Other activities during the month included a 5K awareness run/walk, the Silent Witness Initiative and the Clothesline Project, a display of shirts with messages and illustrations designed by survivors of sexual violence or by someone who loves a victim to increase awareness of the impact of sexual violence.
