Civil Air Patrol launches rockets
PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. – Capt. Bill Blatchley, Colorado Springs Cadet Squadron aerospace education officer, prepares a model rocket for testing by a local student. The Civil Air Patrol brought along a rocket launcher to the field day for Jack Swigert Aerospace Academy students held at Patriot Park May 6. The field day allowed the school children to make and test rockets with the help of on-site experts as a part of their curriculum. The students also visited the Peterson Air and Space Museum to tour real aircraft and rockets. (U.S. Air Force photo/Alethea Smock)
