6th SWS change of command
CAPE COD AIR FORCE STATION, Mass. – Col. David Miller Jr., 21st Operations Group commander, passes the 6th Space Warning Squadron guidon to Lt. Col. David Anderson during the 6th SWS change of command ceremony June 27 here. Anderson assumed command from Lt. Col. Walt Jackim. The 6th SWS is responsible for detecting and reporting missile launches originating from or advancing towards the North American East Coast. The unit also tracks on-orbit spacecraft and forwards the data to the Joint Space Operations Center to update the consolidated satellite catalogue. (U.S. Air Force photo)
