A bit of the past
Lt. Col. Max Lantz, new 6th Space Warning Squadron commander, smiles as his son, Max E. Lantz III, accepts a punchcard from Dave “CyberDave” Zysek, Computer Lead with BAE Systems for the Pave PAWS radar at Cape Cod AFS. The punchcard is a relic from this radar’s early days in the 1980s, and an appropriate gift to mark the Cyber Legacy Emulator Upgrade BAE Systems helped the Air Force complete last year. Although the original Cyber system worked flawlessly, the upgrade allows for sustainability with off-the-shelf parts. Colonel Lantz took command of the 6th SWS June 25.
