Attendees stand under the wings of the B-25J Mitchell “In The Mood” and in front of an airworthy P-47 Thunderbolt during the 380th Space Control Squadron’s activation ceremony Sept. 6 in Colorado Springs, Colo. During the ceremony, Lt. Col. Michael Assid accepted command of the squadron from Col. Jeffrey Ansted. The squadron was re-activated from it's original World War II-era mission of bombers to take on the Air Force Reserve mission of space control. Colonel Assid becomes the squadron's 27th commander during its ongoing lineage. Colonel Ansted is the 310th Space Wing commander. (Courtesy photo/Rollan Yocum)
