21st Space Wing First Sergeant of the Year
Master Sgt. Chester Spires, 821st Air Base Group first sergeant, was instrumental in an eight-day Fox News visit covering 10 stories, reaching 87 million viewers. He reinvigorated the dormant Enlisted Professional Development program covering over 40 hours of instruction for airman thru master sergeants providing professional development and career progression. In addition, he reduced child/parent separation hardship by establishing the base’s first ever Digital Reading Program. He also secured over $400 in aid from the Operation Warm Heart program to aid in the financial hardship of three families. He also organized 30 incentive flights to a Canadian air force station. Finally, Sergeant Spires orchestrated the international BOXTOP Olympics for 40 competitors at two bases. (U.S. Air Force photo)
