Peterson officer assumes command in Iraq
Lt. Col. Craig Williams takes the 447th Expeditionary Operations Support Squadron flag from Col. Fred Cheney, 447th Air Expeditionary Group commander, signifying his assupmtion of command for the squadron at Sather Air Base, Iraq, Feb. 12. Colonel Williams is assigned to the 311th Airlift Squadron at Peterson Air Force Base, Colo. Sather AB is located on the west side of Baghdad International Airport and is the largest mover of passengers in Iraq, averaging 6,200 passengers weekly and the second largest mover of cargo in Iraq, averaging more than 1,700 tons weekly.
