A glimpse overlooking the heather fields outside the town of Sandsend, England, reveal the AN/FPS-120 Phased Array Space Surveillance Radar based at Royal Air Force Fylingdales. Fylingdales was visited by Col. Jay Raymond, 21st Space Wing commander, Chief Master Sgt. Timothy Omdal, 21st SW command chief and Senior Airman Ricardo Woods for a site visit of Fylingdales and the installation's sister unit at RAF High Wycombe, located outside London. Both installations make up the U.K. Missile Warning Center that maintains a continuous missile warning capability for the U.S. and United Kingdom. Sandsend is 258 miles north of London.
