Shoplifting

Among Peterson’s loss prevention equipment is the Sensormatic Closed Circuit Television system which controls approximately 50 cameras placed in all public areas of the base exchange. Loss prevention staff members monitor this system during business hours to detect and prevent shoplifting. Undetected shoplifting cost the Army Air Force Exchange Service more than 14 million dollars in 2008. Items topping the average AAFES shoplifter’s “must have” list include purses, iPods, Compact Discs, DVDs, colognes, perfumes, health and beauty aids, vitamins and razor blades.
