PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo.-- Master Sgt. Andrew Fulbright and Airman 1st Class Shawn Dunag of the Peterson Honor Guard prepare to raise the Colors in honor of Paul Airey, the first Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force, during a formation held at the 21st Space Wing headquarters building flagpole May 28. After raising the colors, the flag was lowered to half-staff to honor the chief. Approximately 200 Peterson Airmen stood in a formation led by Col. Jay Raymond, 21st SW commander and Chief Master Sgt. Tim Omdal, 21st SW command chief. Chief Airey was also honored at Arlington National Cemetery, Washington, D.C., where he is scheduled to be interred May 28. Chief Airey died on March 20, 2009. (Air Force photo by Dennis Howk)
