Operation Pacer Goose 2009

Merchant ship Seychelles Pioneer sits off Thule's pier July 19, and its multinational crew waits to offload fuel as part of Thule's annual resupply activities named Operation Pacer Goose. The oil tanker delivered about 10 million gallons of diesel fuel that will last until next summer. From the beginning of July through August, ships from all over the world will deliver critical cargoes to sustain operations at Thule and other military and scientific installations in the area, including Canadian military posts Stations Alert and Eureka, Danish meteorlogical outpost Station Nord and National Science Foundation research outposts Summit and NEEM stations (Photo by 1st Lt.
