F-104 gets facelift

The F-104 “Starfighter” static display located on the corner of Stewart Avenue and Peterson Boulevard got a fresh coat of paint recently. Lovern’s Inc. spent two and a half weeks repainting the historic aircraft, finishing work Aug. 10. The F-104 was the first combat aircraft capable of sustained Mach 2 flight. It is one of 16 aircraft static displays that are part of the Peterson Air and Space Musuem. (Photo by Erv Smalley)
