Irrigation system saves money at PAFB

Rich Paquette, Embassy Lawn and Landscape head of irrigation on Peterson Air Force Base, explains the newly installed weather system tied directly to a central irrigation system. When there is even an eighth of an inch of rain, the weather system tells the irrigation system to shut down. The new system is expected to reduce water used for irrigation on Peterson Air Force Base by 50 percent. Mr. Paquette, who used to turn off 100 sprinklers manually, said that now when it rains late in the evening he can just sit back and enjoy it. (U.S. Air Force photo/Monica Mendoza)
