Condor Crest

21st Space Wing firefighters respond to a trapped person under a flipped car during a tornado scenario in the quarterly Condor Crest exercise on Peterson Air Force Base Aug. 16 to 20. Firefighters used a hydraulic rescue tool, also known as the “jaws of life,” to peel back the metal of a smashed car so they could safely extract an injured driver. The exercise tested emergency response to a large-scale natural disaster. (U.S. Air Force photo/Dennis Howk)
