21st Fighter Bomber Wing

Joyce Watkins, 80, was 24 years old and a new bride when she arrived at Chambley Air Base in 1954. Families lived in 42-foot trailers as the base was being built on an airfield. Although there was a lot of rain and mud, Watkins, who was the first Department of Defense teacher to arrive on the base, enjoyed her time there and attends all of the 21st Fighter Bomber Wing reunions.
