9/11 memorial
Col. Rusty Wilson, 721st Mission Support Group commander at Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station, thanked the National Homeland Defense Foundation for its work in securing a piece of the World Trade Center for a memorial on the installation. About 100 military members and civilians gathered at CMAFS Nov. 19 for the arrival of the beam, which was released by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to the foundation and then presented to CMAFS. The beam will be stored inside the mountain installation until it is unveiled at memorial dedication ceremony next September. (U.S. Air Force photo/Larry Hulst)
