Earth Day
PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- Twins Jayden and Olivia Linta help Mark Dobbs, 21st Civil Engineer Squadron, fill a bag with trash and debris from northbound Powers Boulevard during the 21st Space Wing’s trash pickup event April 22, 2011 to recognize Earth Day. Earth Day was first celebrated on April 22, 1970 and that year an estimated 22 million people participated in events throughout the United States. This year, an estimated 1 billion people in more than 180 countries were expected to celebrate Earth Day. The 21st Space Wing celebrated Earth Day with a number of events including a tree-planting ceremony, energy awareness booths at the BX, and a youth poster contest. (U.S. Air Force photo/Rob Bussard)
