Thule sees first light
THULE AIR BASE, Greenland – Thule Air Base celebrated its first light Feb. 21 marking the sun’s return after more than three months of darkness. Part of the first-light tradition includes senior leaders donning their summer clothes, despite the below zero temperatures that day. Thule Air Base, one of the six installations operated by the 21st Space Wing, is home to the world's northernmost deep-water seaport, the Arctic's largest airfield and provides base support for more than 600 year-round residents.
