Mission
The SAPR team is dedicated to providing the best possible service to ensure that each person makes a smooth transition from "victim" to "survivor" and to use education and intervention as the primary means of achieving an environment free of sexual assault.
Vision
"Creating an empowering climate, one where every Airman is aware of the issues surrounding sexual violence.
Goals
- Actively commit to the safety and well being of all Airmen while supporting survivors through the healing process
- Educate the PSFB community on sexual assault issues through outstanding instruction
- Improve incident reporting-restricted or unrestricted by protecting victim's privacy
Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Program
The Peterson Space Force Base Sexual Assault Prevention and Response (SAPR) program has been established to coordinate sexual assault victim care. Upon receipt of a report of sexual assault, the Sexual Assault Response Coordinator (SARC) will assign a Victim Advocate (VA) to help you obtain necessary services and to provide crisis intervention, referral and ongoing non-clinical support. Support will include providing information on available reporting options and resources so you can make informed decisions about your case. The VA will accompany you, if desired, to investigative interviews, medical examinations and follow-up appointments. Your VA will continue to assist you until you no longer feel a need for support.
Mandatory SAPR Training
Personnel at Peterson should consult their unit training manager to ensure they are compliant with the latest SAPR training. The SAPR office will also train units at Commander Calls or on designated training days.
If You Have Been Assaulted
- Go to a safe location away from the attacker.
- Call 911 if you are in an emergency situation or need immediate medical attention. Even if you doubt you have any visible physical injuries, you may be at risk for sexually transmitted infections or pregnant.
- If you suspect you have been drugged, request that a urine sample be collected.
- Preserve all evidence of the assault. Do not shower, bathe, change clothes, brush your teeth, eat or drink anything. Do not straighten up or clean up the crime scene.
- Ask the health care provider to conduct a sexual assault forensic exam to preserve forensic evidence.
- Write down, tape or record by any other means all the details you can recall about the assault and your assailant.
We encourage you to break the silence and report sexual assault: contact the Sexual Assault Response Coordinator (SARC), your Wingman at (719) 556-7272 (SARC), with 24-hour confidential support.
