821st Security Forces Squadron

Mission

The mission of the 821st Security Forces Squadron “Arctic Wolves” is to provide superior Base Defense with Law & Order for strategic force projection, space superiority, and critical scientific research in the Arctic for the United States and allies.  The vision for the unit is to develop resilient Defenders in an austere location, thereby strengthening relationships with mission partners in the Arctic. The 821 SFS has glorious history dating back to 1962 at Ellsworth Air Force Base, South Dakota, then moving to Buckley Air Force Base, Colorado in 1996, and finally moving Pituffik Space Base, Greenland in 2002, thereby becoming the only Defenders in the Arctic and that defend the largest overseas installation (254 sq. miles) in the United States military.
